1st Lesson 2

Objectives:
Students will review/practice mouse skills, such as moving the mouse, clicking, and drag and drop.
Students will begin to understand and practice logging on.

PK-2.TC.7. demonstrate the ability to navigate in virtual environments

Anticipatory Set & Teaching Input/Modeling:

Students will watch a slide show that demonstrates how to log on. Teacher will also demonstrate how to log on. Show students the mouse. Demonstrate how to point and click and how to double click. Demonstrate how to complete the mouse skills activities on the Mouse Skills page.

1st Lesson 3

Read: "Ten Apples Up on Top."

How to use Paint 2010 basics!
Either upload a picture of each student and have students copy and paste their picture into Paint (if photos aren't available, then have them draw a face. Draw an apple and copy and paste it to the top of their head.
Add a text box that says, "____ apples up on top." Add name to text box.
Minimize and play game.
Teach how to save one on one while others are playing game.

Kidspiration:
Students will use Kidspiration to make a web showing the four seasons. They will use the writing tool to then type one sentence about each season. They will learn how to print.

Have students click on the "Open Pumpkin in Kidspiration" link. Two blank pumpkins will open in Kidspiration. If they click on the pictures in the left column, they can drag items onto the pumpkin to make silly faces. If you click on the arrows above the pictures, you can choose many different categories to use to decorate the pumpkins (for example the fruit pictures make good items for the faces). If time you can have students click underneath the picture and type “pumpkin.” Last have them choose File, Print. They will need help printing. If students finish early, they can go to my student links page and do Fall or Apple Activities.

Michigan Educational Technology Standard:

Students will learn to locate important keys on the keyboard and to name the parts of a computer. This lesson may need to be divided into two weeks.

Part 1:
Students will learn the parts of a computer.

Show United Streaming 2 minute movie on parts of a computer
Have students place a sticky note on each part (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones, tower/hard drive, ) as I show them.

Students will use PowerPoint to create a mini booklet naming parts of the computer.

Have students open Computer Parts Mini Booklet from Student Links page.
Have students follow the directions at the bottom of each slide to label the correct parts. As students learn the names of the computer parts, they will also learn PowerPoint skills such as:

adding text
deleting objects
moving objects
using the backspace key

Print ( have them select the option to print 6 slides per page.)

3rd	Watch Paint review tutorial 2007 Watch Pizza Tutorial 2007 How to use Paint 2010 basics! How to paint a pizza with Paint 2010 Students will use the paint program to create a drawing of a pizza. Then they will use copy and paste to add different ingredients to their pizza. The children start with a basic shape for the pizza. Then they fill in with a color that reminds them of the pizza crust. We add the sauce using the airbrush tool with the widest spray. Next, we use the thicker paintbrush to add pieces of green pepper. We make one piece of pepperoni and use the copy and paste technique to add more pepperoni to it. You can do the same for mushrooms. Finally, the children use the airbrush technique to add melted cheese as the final topping. Save. Week 2: Students will insert a picture of their pizza into Word. Students will type a descriptive paragraph about their pizza. Teach students how to save and Print.

3rd	Students will learn about constellations and create thier own. See example below: 1. Kindergarten	Read: "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom." Students will then use the Paint program to draw a palm tree and add letter to the picture as if they are running up the tree. Kindergarten	Kidspiration Drag numbers 1-5 into a vertical list. Drag that number of shapes next to each number. Add name and Print.
1st	Kidspiration Students will use Kidspiration to create a community map. Insert roads, houses, bulidings, cars and signs. Type their name. Learn to Print. or Make a web of things they like. Type "I like in the middle." Students make a web of 3 things they like. Publish to Word. Print. Use form to write sentences.

5th	Students will learn about the 5 parts of a letter and use MS Word to write letters to send to overseas American soldiers. 1. Lesson 11

Kindergarten	Students will listen to poem: Rudolph Rudolph! Students will design a reindeer in Paint by adding antlers, coloring in the reindeer and adding color to the nose. Teacher will need to open the picture to the right in Paint for students and save for them when finished/ Put the completed pics into Movie Maker. Next week record student voices reading Rudolph Rudolph!
1st	Students will listen to The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. Students will design a gingerbread cookie in Paint. Copy and paste the picture to the right into Paint. Use the tools in Paint to decorate a cookie. Print. Cut out and color.
2nd	Students will design an ornament in Paint. Copy and Paste the picture to the right into Paint. Use the Paint tools to decorate. Print. Have students cut out and glue to a green square piece of construction paper. Put their name on the back. Students write a paragraph describing the details in the ornament. Assemble the ornaments into the shape of a tree. Hang paragraphs next to the tree. Have students read the paragraph and try to guess which ornament the description goes with.
3rd	Students will use PowerPoint to insert a photo of themselves and a speech bubble telling what Christmas means to them. The speech bubble will read, "Christmas is..." Students will record their voices reading the content of the speech bubble.	Example Use this image for PPT background:
